Leaven & Co - but what does the "Co" mean?

More than a name…

Many people think that the “Co” in Leaven & Co is short for Company when in fact it stands for Companions. Leaven & Companions perfectly captures who we are; a collective of loyal companions who have come together under one roof to make and break bread. “Leaven” is the essential component of all our breads, sometimes known as Levain, Poolish or Biga, it is the engine that starts the fermentation process for all our breads and gives them that great flavor and strength. “Companions” refers to the bakers themselves, the artisans, the artists, the craftsmen, a team of people with a shared passion for making excellent bread, with the more experienced members continuously learning and training the up and coming stars in the bakery. Every single baker is committed to excellence and it shows in the quality and consistency of the products they produce, day in and day out.

Chefs that know, get their burger buns from Leaven & Co. Our brioche burger bun, made the right way, with the perfect amount of butter is still the most popular product we make. But… we have seen more and more restaurants and burger joints trying our potato burger bun, it’s made with real potato, it’s soft but durable, and holds up perfectly whether it’s a 6-8oz patty or a smashburger. And then we have our lines of specialty burger buns… pretzel, multigrain crunch, semolina, “black and white” or our “OSP” (onion, sesame seeds and poppy seeds) – all great options for a really special menu item.
